Mahr Inc. Celebrates Milestone Year in 2024 Marked by Product Innovation, Growth, and Community Commitment

PROVIDENCE, RI – February 5, 2025 –Mahr Inc., a leading provider of dimensional metrology solutions, announced the company has closed out 2024 with record success, including growth in emerging markets such as aerospace, electric vehicles, e-mobility, medical devices, and photonics/optics while maintaining a strong leadership position within industries the company has traditionally excelled in including automotive, machine tools, precision devices, and precision parts manufacturing. Mahr added several key new hires to support this growth and introduced innovative products designed for the modern, expanding production environment, including new intelligent technologies with enhanced automation.
Key highlights of 2024 include multiple strategic hires as Mahr continued to build its seasoned team of industry experts to reinforce the company’s commitment to providing customers with the service and support needed to help manufacturers adopt new precision measurement technologies that solve unique metrology requirements. The company added 13 key employees, including John Roberts as Vice President Sales Americas/Executive Director, and welcomed new District Sales Managers Thomas Martin, Martin Phillps, and Stephen Vitello, as well as Craig Mills, a Field Service Engineer.
Furthermore, Mahr announced multiple internal promotions of note: Sean Stewart, Assembly Supervisor; Tim Johnson, Regional Sales Manager; and Andy Brandenburger, District Sales Manager, as well as new members of its production, logistics, field service, and quality teams.They collectively bring added expertise to the knowledgeable, experienced team that has continually made Mahr a leader in precision measurement.
The company launched several innovative new products throughout the year to address the evolving requirements of precision measurement, including the Precimar SM 60-V Small Length Model,Digimar 816 CLT Height Gage, MarSurf CD 140 AF Contour Measuring Machine, and the acquisition of OptoSurf GmbH, expanding its optical surface metrology portfolio:
- Precimar SM 60-V Small Length Model: This expansion of the Precimar SM 60 length measurement product line includes the new Precimar SM 60-V small-length measuring bench. It can use Mahr’s standard contact inserts with 3.3mm mounting, enabling the SM-60 to be individually adapted to a wide range of measuring tasks. It can measure recesses, external gears, the pitch diameter of external threads, and perform many other measuring tasks. It is ideally suited for precise measurements at the point of manufacture or in a measurement center.
- Digimar 816 CLT Height Gage: The latest addition to Mahr's line of height measuring instruments is designed for accurate measurements in inspection or production areas. It is equipped with a range of advanced features, including an intuitive touch screen, ergonomic handles, and dynamic measuring functions designed to offer unparalleled performance and ease of use.
- MarSurf CD 140 AFContour Measuring Machine: A space-optimized measuring station for the production environment, the MarSurf CD 140 AF features a user-friendly design and advanced capabilities that allow for simple measurement routines and reliable results for quality assurance. Key features include its unique probe system with a functional arm length of 350 mm (13.78 in). This probe system enables quick changes of stylus tips that don't require any tools or recalibration.
- Acquisition of OptoSurf GmbH: This acquisition enables Mahr to expand its optical surface metrology portfolio and enhance the assessment of tribological properties. The addition of OptoSurf GmbH allows Mahr to offer more advanced options to its customers, improving the ability to measure surfaces extremely accurately and efficiently while supporting the minimization of friction, reduced wear, and improved system efficiency.
Additionally, Mahr strengthened its long-standing partnership with MSI Viking, a leading distributor of precision metrology systems and calibration services, to offer advanced production metrology systems and optical metrology solutions. The expanded partnership will enhance MSI Viking's offerings across its Southeastern region.
