Mahr Exhibit Will Focus on 3D Metrology Solutions, Portable Surface Measurement, and Integrated Wireless Hand Tools from its Full Range of Precision Measurement Instruments for Optical Manufacturing

PROVIDENCE, RI – January 22, 2025–  Mahr Inc., a leading provider of dimensional metrology solutions, will highlight its specialized metrology instruments for optical manufacturing at Photonics West 2025, January 28 – 30 in San Francisco. With instruments including white light and confocal microscopy, 3D and portable surface measurement tools, interferometers, profilometers, precision gages, and more, Mahr provides a full range of metrology solutions to meet optical manufacturing needs.

Products to be highlighted at the Mahr booth, #1839, will include:

  • MarSurf CM explorer plus: The new MarSurf CM explorer plus is a cutting-edge confocal microscope designed for precise 3D surface measurement and analysis—offering non-contact operation, material independence, and high-speed performance. The innovative surface measuring system is designed to provide advanced capabilities for surface analysis, combining enhanced performance with user-friendly features for use in research, development, or quality control.

  • MarSurf LD 280: The new MarSurf LD 280 measuring station offers an automated solution for measuring roughness and contour simultaneously and with maximum accuracy. Its probe arm unit only records the measurement data once, which the software can then evaluate for contour and roughness features if required. This saves time, as two measurement results are obtained with just one measurement run, and cost, as users only need to invest in one measuring station.
  • Precimar SM 60 with Wireless Indicator: Precimar SM 60 is a length measuring bench for external measurements with a 60 mm application range, a 25 mm sensitive contact, and a fixed reference jaw with a 35 mm adjustment. It provides an easy-to-use measuring instrument for fast, precise external measurements on workpieces. The Precimar 60 can be used with any Mahr indicating products, including dial comparators, digital indicators, LVDT probes, or digital probes. The device will be showcased with a wireless indicator at Photonics West 2025.

  • MarSurfPS10: The MarSurf PS10 is a mobile surface roughness measuring unit. Using a smartphone-like 4.3 TFT touchscreen display, the PS10 measures 31 roughness parameters, has a removable drive, and provides lab-level performance on the shop floor.
  • Marsurf Pocket Surf: This handheld, pocket-sized surface roughness tester is built with an onboard probe and digital display. The entire unit can be placed directly on the surface of a feature or workpiece. The retractable probe extends from the body in multiple orientations and has a simple digital display that can cycle through standard measurements such as Ra and Rz of a surface.
  • MarCator 1087 Digital Indicator: The MarCator 1087 is a multi-functional wireless digital indicator with a combined analog and digital display, as well as tolerance and dynamic measuring functions. Mahr’s integrated wireless hand tools, including Micromar micrometers and MarCal calipers, will also be on display. These handheld gages permit full mobility with wireless data transmission.

SPIE Photonics West 2025 will take place from January 25 – 30, 2025, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA. Visit booth #1839 to learn more.
